BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. –Butte County has moved from Tier 2 (red) to a less-restrictive
Tier 3 (orange) of the State’s COVID-19 Blueprint for a Safer Economy, a shift that allows
more businesses to reopen and some that are already open to increase capacity. This
change in tiers is effective immediately for some business sectors in Butte County.
The data requirements to qualify for Tier 3 include a case rate of 1-3.9 cases per 100,000
residents with a test positivity rate of 2 – 4.9% or less and 2.2 – 5.2% health equity metric.
The current Butte County COVID-19 case rate is 3.5cases per 100,000 residents with a
1.8%test positivity rate and a 1.4% health equity metric.
WhatisthebiggestchangeforTier3?
Many businesses previously allowed to open indoors at reduced capacity may now
continue to be open indoors with increased capacity in Tier 3. Tier 3 also allows several
business sectors to be open that have previously been closed or limited to outdoor or
remote operations. Tier 3 allows for:
Bars, breweries and distilleries: open outdoors with modifications
Offices: open indoors with modifications, encourage telework
Cardrooms & Satellite Wagering: open indoors with modification, max 25% capacity
