Subject:EOC Fire September 30th Morning Update
Date:Wednesday, September 30, 2020 10:28:37 AM
Good morning Board – I am filling in as EOC Director today. Here is the update from the EOC
Briefing this morning.
Fire Update
The West Zone continues to look good. Last night there were some hot spots in the southern
perimeter (Division C). The fire crews were able to get them controlled. The northwest portions
(USFS) remains difficult. There were burns that went to highway 70 and back to the burn scar. They
are working on secondary and contingency lines.
Highway 70 – The USFS may close a portion of Highway 70 between Pulga and route 89 for 24 hours.
This is the area where the fire is closest. They will be putting in dozer lines
Incident Team 4 will demobilize today and Butte CalFire will lead the effort. They will set up incident
command at the Forebay.
Weather conditions remain favorable. The next major wind event is expected within 7-10 days.
Care and Shelter
There are 715 individuals in non-congregate shelters in 336 rooms. There have been 1884 calls
received at the call center.
There are 296 animals in Camelot, 94 in Cal Oaks, 108 at Del Oro and no animals in Gridley.
The National Guard is expected this afternoon to assist with animal care.
Public Works
Great progress has been made on guard rails. Yesterday 1,100 feet was installed between Bald Rock
Road and Foreman Creek. It’s busy up there. It takes about 2 hours to get from Bald Rock to
Oroville. Public Works in coordination with CalRecycle is getting prepared for debris disposal at the
landfill. An item will be brought to the Board once the plan is developed.
Community Activity - Wanted to make you aware that the Berry Creek community developed a
webpage - https://www.berrycreekbrave.com/
Disposal – We are coordinating with Recology on placing dumpsters in various locations. Recology
has resumed or will resume service in reopened areas. There are many people who have large
amounts of food and other waste. We are coordinating with Recology to place dumpsters in various
locations including Forbestown. Recology will also do individual pick-up on a request basis. More
information will come out later today.
EOC Planning – We are currently in Op Period 12 until 8:00 tonight. The Op Period 13 will likely be a
48 hour period ending on Friday 10/2 at 8:00PM. The EOC plans to move operations to Oroville
tomorrow at 1:30. The EOC will go virtual on Thursday afternoon and resume in person on Friday
morning. I will provide you an update after our 4:00PM EOC Briefing.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thank you.
