Our operations range from critical infrastructure to office work, which means there is no one-size-fits-all response. Yesterday I met with all Department Heads and asked each one to prepare their own departmental operations plan. The plans need to protect employee and public health, while also serving the public. Development Services and Public Works are the first departments to report in. They are implementing the same plans they used during the early days of the pandemic, with most staff working remote and counters available by appointment. Development Services is particularly sensitive to the victims of the North Complex Fire, and will do everything possible to accommodate their needs. The Library is currently operating in a Purple Tier compatible way so there will be no change. I’ll report back when other departments have developed their plans. Additionally, Board meetings will need to be scaled back. I will encourage people to participate remotely as much as possible. By and large, the chambers will be Board Members, County Counsel, Clerk of the Board, CAO, and videographer. We’ll have some flexibility for those instances where it makes sense to have an individual in chambers to present, or receive something, but otherwise we’ll encourage remote participation as much as possible.
