Re: Kekawaka Dam 2019 Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Report (DSSMR)
Dear Mr. Fox:
This is in response to a letter dated May 20, 2020 from Mr. Dusty Myers that
stated that you have no plans to return the project into service as a result of the a wildfire
in 2017 that destroyed Kanaka Hydroelectric Project, FERC No. 7242. Based on
subsequent conversations with Mr. Ryan Schoolmeester, we understand the project is
unaccessible due to ongoing ligation with land owner that prevents you from accessing
the project to collect data for the DSSMR. We have reviewed the submittal, and we have
the following comment:
We understand that there are challenges accessing the project, but it
remains your responsibility to return the project to operating conditions.
Within 30 days from the date of this letter, please provide a plan and
schedule to return the project to service. An alternative would be to take
the necessary actions to surrender the project.

We appreciate your continued efforts dam
safety program. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Thao Bui at
(415) 369-3312.
Sincerely,
Frank L. Blackett, P.E.
