Andy Máximo A. Pickett Chief Administrative Officer Butte County Administration 25 County Center Drive, Suite 200, Oroville, CA 95965 T: December 1, 2020 Public Health Weekly Briefing Points Butte County COVID-19 Numbers and Data See COVID-19 Dashboard Purple Tier Butte County remains in the purple tier. The State only has about six counties that are NOT in purple at this point. Case numbers continue to increase statewide and in Butte County. State Considering Shut Down: Public Health has no details but has been made aware that the Governor is considering another full “shut down” for a few weeks to try to stop the spread. Input provided by Public Health and County associations on lessons learned from the first shut down: o Should not mandate small business closures if big box stores are allowed to remain open, transmission still occurs and hurts our small businesses/local economies o Enforcement continues to be a huge issue – no enforcement equals non-compliance and further spread No guarantee that the input will be included if another shut down is rolled out Therapeutics The therapeutics continue to be distributed in small amounts to local hospitals Testing OptumServe continues to be fully booked but apparently are having several “no-shows” per day. Public Health will work with them and ask to start taking walk-ins again to offset the no-shows. Vaccine Planning Vaccine planning at the state level and at the local level continues. The first allocation of vaccine will go for Health Care Workers (HCWs) and then to long term care facility residents. Public Health anticipates the initial allocation to Butte County to be fairly small.
