State Street PO Box 167 Neshkoro, WI 54960-0167 Subject: Request to file a surrender application Dear Mr. Smet: The Commission issued the Order Issuing License for the Kanaka Project No. 1 7242 (project) on August 15, 1985.The project is located on Sucker Run Creek, a tributary of the South Fork Feather River, in Butte County, California. The project consists of a diversion structure across Sucker Run Creek, a 4,960-foot-long pipeline/penstock, a powerhouse with an installed capacity of 1.12 megawatt, and an 850- foot-long transmission line. By letter submitted May 20, 2020, you stated that the project has been destroyed by wildfire and you have no intention of restoring the project. Within 60 days of the date of this letter, you must file a plan and schedule with the Commission to surrender of your 2 license. Any surrender application filed with the Commission must be in accordance with section 6.1 of the Commission’s regulations, and include: (1) a decommissioning plan describing the planned disposition of project facilities; (2) an environmental report that describes the existing environment in the project area; (3) a description of any environmental effects that are expected to occur upon surrender and any measures that would be taken to mitigate those effects; (4) a schedule for surrendering of the project 1 Television Communications, Inc. 82 FERC ¶ 62,883 (1985). 2 See 18 CFR Part 6-Application for surrender, § 6.1.
