Andy Máximo A. Pickett Chief Administrative Officer Butte County Administration 25 County Center Drive, Suite 200, Oroville, CA 95965 T: Butte County Public Health 12/14/2020 COVID Vaccine Update All State information can be found at: https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/ Role of Butte County Public Health (BCPH) The primary role of BCPH is to facilitate the COVID vaccine distribution process to local Health Care Providers (HCPs) by following the California Dept. of Public Health’s (CDPH) COVID Vaccination Plan. This utilizes a phased and tiered approach with a priority process based on supply, safety, equity and transparency. Phases/Tiers The State has announced that allocations will be divided among Phases and then Tiers. As of right now, the only level we know about is Phase 1a. The remaining phases are still being developed/finalized. We do anticipate there will be a Phase 1b and then it will probably go to Phases 2 and 3. First Allocations to Butte County: Phase 1a – Tier 1 vaccine allocated to Butte County – almost 10,000 doses nd Nearly 3,000 Pfizer vaccines - Pfizer vaccine – 1 dose given initially and 2 dose given 3 weeks later nd Nearly 7,000 Moderna vaccines - Moderna vaccine – 1 dose given initially and 2 dose given 4 weeks later All vaccine allocated in this Phase 1a – Tier 1 will be given as the first dose (second doses are stnd reserved by the Federal Government to ensure all who receive the 1 dose will have the 2 dose available. We anticipate that Butte County will receive allocations weekly. We do not need to order all allocations at one time and will not lose our allocations. Phase 1a –Tier 1 provided to: Those who may be exposed to COVID-19 through work in a healthcare setting. Including: Frontline Health Care Workers (HCWs), administrative, nutritional, environmental staff who must work on the floor, etc. Currently – Enloe Medical Center is the only Acute Care Hospital in Butte County that has been approved, by the State, to receive the vaccine o Applications – Both Oroville and Orchard Hospitals have submitted applications and they are under review Enloe Medical Center will receive almost 5,000 of the initial allocations with the ability to order more if needed Shipping, Storage and Distribution: Vaccine is direct shipped to each approved COVID vaccine HCP Vaccine will be provided to frontline HCWs and other staff who are at the highest risk of contracting COVID from patients o It is not available for other HCWs or the general public in this phase As we move through the phases more HCPs will be approved as COVID vaccine providers o All approved vaccine providers must: have the ability to receive the vaccine via direct shipment from the State, store the vaccine as required – some require ultra- low temperature storage and distribute the vaccine in a timely manner Timeline: First doses shipped to Enloe are estimated to arrive this week, around December 18, 2020 BCPH is working with all three hospitals to ensure they are prepared to receive shipments and have plans in place to distribute to frontline HCWs Long Term Care Facilities: The Federal Government has partnered with major pharmacies to begin providing vaccine to residents and staff of long term care facilities. These vaccinations are scheduled to start the last week of December.
