Good morning,
I wanted to provide the Board some background on this. This project is listed in our current work
plan (page 215 of the Public Works Budget) but due to higher priority projects following the Camp
Fire and now the North Complex fire, we have not made much progress.
We do believe this is a good project, and now with the SB1 funds, we have a stable source of funds
to do these types of projects. This project will probably be recommended for inclusion in the FY
2021-22 budget as both a road rehabilitation project and ADA/Title 24 improvements for Durham
Dayton Road – so that we can repair the asphalt failures at the same time we are upgrading the
pedestrian access.
We will also take a good look at traffic counts in the area, to see if there is a compelling traffic
growth factor that would dictate the installation of traffic signals in the foreseeable future. As
someone that drives that intersection every day, I am not seeing the compelling need to install
traffic signals – but we will see what the data points to.
