Board Members,
At their January 4 meeting, the Chico City Council directed their staff to pass on several questions to
our Behavioral Health Department. We have now received the questions, and they range from
completely reasonable (types of programs, number of beds, clients served, etc) all the way to
unreasonable, impossible to know, or overly burdensome (for example, asking us to provide them
the square footage of every facility, or percentage of staff time dedicated to each jurisdiction, with
and without administrative costs, etc).
Rather than do a line by line response, and spend precious staff time creating data that doesn’t exist,
I have asked Scott to respond to the City’s request in the spirit in which it was sent: to try and help
them understand Behavioral Health programs and how they relate to homelessness.
This will be along the same kind of information that you will receive when we bring a presentation to
the Board. After you hear the presentation, we will provide it to the Chico City Council.
