Dear Board Members,
My Department has an obligation to enforce child support orders. The recent fires in our area,
including the Camp Fire, have created circumstances where some members of our community
(non-paying parents) were impacted by the fires and are now eligible to receive settlement
payments from PG&E.
I have designated a special project team and established protocols to help manage these types
of cases in a thoughtful manner. Our objective is to ensure that the parent paying support can
achieve stability (such as repairing or rebuilding their primary residence) while providing for
the financial needs of their children.
I anticipate that you may receive questions or complaints regarding this process. If you
receive a complaint from one of your constituents, please refer them to Bobbi Duran,
Ombudsperson, at bduran@buttecounty.net or 530-552-4202.
