Miranda FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 8, 2021 CONTACT Tristan Weems Associate Planner, Planning Division tweems@buttecounty.net 530.552.3685 BUTTE COUNTY TO HOST FIRST VIRTUAL WORKSHOP FOR CLIMATE ACTION PLAN What concerns you most about the climate crisis? Ways to address the changes? Renewable energy? Air quality? Extreme heat? Butte County is updating the County’s 2014 Climate Action Plan (CAP). The Butte County CAP Update is funded by a grant awarded under Senate Bill (SB) 2. The CAP will identify ways to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Butte County. Reduction targets in the CAP call for a 42 percent reduction below baseline 2006 GHG emission levels by 2030. With your input, the CAP Update will provide Butte County a pathway towards a more sustainable and resilient future. Collaboration is essential to solve the pressing community challenge. Join us to help develop climate strategies that will protect Butte County for generations to come. Please join us by phone, tablet, or computer for the first virtual public workshop on Thursday, February 18th from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. The agenda includes a project overview presentation followed by question and answer, and small group discussions using the Zoom Breakout Room feature.
