Good Afternoon Board of Supervisors,
As you recall, we discussed the Emergency Rental Assistance Program at the last Board of
Supervisors meeting. I wanted to provide an update as I anticipate that constituents may be
reaching out to your office for information. At this time, the State anticipates having the application
portal operational in mid-March. The portal and additional information for renters and landlords
may be found at www.housingiskey.com The program can assist with rent payments as well as
utilities. According the State, a robust PR campaign will be forthcoming. We will be a part of this
campaign to get information out in coordination with our local service providers.
An advisory board is being developed by the State to assist with policy and operational decisions. I
have been asked to represent our jurisdiction. Of the 28 counties eligible to both the federal and
state funding, 10 counties have selected Option A (the option we selected in Butte) to have the
County operate both the State and Federal dollars on behalf of the County.
I am looking forward to working closely with the State on this program and seeing the positive
impact it will ultimately have in our County.
