Box #446 Gridley, California 95948 Dear Supervisor Kimmelshue: I am writing to you as a constituent who cares about the mental health and wellbeing of un-housed persons in Butte County. I ask you to join me in supporting the Whole Person Care Innovation Project as central to Everhart Village, the existing collaboration between Butte County Departments of Employment andSocialServices, Butte County Behavioral Health (BCBH) and Chico Housing ActionTeam(CHAT).EverhartVillageinChicois to be a shelter consisting of 15-20 “tiny houses” which would provide shelterand round- the-clock intensive servicesforBCBHclients unable tomaintain a safemilieuand support theirrecoveryandgeneralhealthandwellbeing. In 2019, local advocacy group Stakeholders of Butte County introduced the Whole PersonCareconceptto the Butte County BehavioralHealth Advisory Board. Itwas a proposal forMentalHealthServicesAdministration(MHSA) Innovation funding. The current Innovation Project proposal mergesthesefreshand community-drivenideaswith the CHATwellnessandrecoveryaspect of EverhartVillage. The new program would be staffed by Peer Support Specialists working closely with Everhart Village management and BCBH case managers and clinical staff. They would provide the round-the-clock support and assistance CHAT originally envisioned. Whole Person Care will engage resident BCBH clients with education and community resources to maximize their recovery, health, and wellness through 24-hour on-call response. A growing Peer Workforce movement is already employed around the country in a variety of human services settings. Peers trained in Evidence-Based Practices have a unique opportunity and capacity for modeling wellness and sharing recovery skills essential for building resilience and establishing and maintaining recovery. BCBH is now planning the allocation of MHSA dollars. I ask you again to join me and other stakeholders in supporting Whole Person Care by making your awareness and support known to the Butte County Behavioral Health Advisory Board and your fellow Supervisors. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Andrea L. Wagner
