Pursuant to California Government Code §56325(d), attached is a public notice regarding the
Commissions’ current recruitment of an Alternate Public Member. Should you have any questions

NOTICE OF VACANCY
Appointment of an Alternate Public Member
The Butte Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is accepting applications for
an appointment of an Alternate Public Member to serve a three-year term beginning in
June 2021.
An Alternate Public Member is encouraged to fully participate in the discussion and
deliberation at LAFCO meetings, but votes only when the regular Public Member is
absent or disqualified.
Appointees must be a resident of Butte County and cannot be an officer or employee of
the county, any city in the county, or any special district in the county. Those seated on
LAFCO are subject to the Fair Political Practices Commission and must file an annual
conflict of interest statement.
Under state law, LAFCO is an independent regulatory body mandated to discourage
urban sprawl, preserve agricultural and open space lands, promote the efficient delivery
of agency services, and encourage the logical formation and determination of local
government agency boundaries. The Commission typically meets on the first Thursday
of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 25 County
Center Drive in Oroville.
Any person wishing to be considered for either of the appointments should complete an
application which is available at www.buttelafco.org or can be requested from the
LAFCO office. The deadline for returning completed applications is 4:00 p.m. on
Friday, April 2, 2021. Questions should be directed to the Executive Officer at 530-
