Dear Assistant Clerk Ashley, Butte County Board of Supervisors
As a long time resident of Butte County, I have witnessed a good many changes
since moving here in 1976. In 2018 on November 8 our lives were turned upside-
down by the Campfire in Paradise. We called on the good grace of friends to house
us until our Farmers Insurance kicked in. We lost everything except the clothes on
our backs and our cat Mrs. Bender. This is as close as I have been to being
homeless. I cannot fathom what those who are truly long term homeless are
experiencing . . . day after day after day.
I am writing to ask you to address the homeless crisis in Butte County. This situation
has gone on for far too long. I am writing to ask you to do the right thing and solve
this problem. We the citizens of this fine county expect more of our duly elected
supervisors. It is unconscionable and immoral for people to be living on the street in
this time and place.
I look forward to hearing from the board and learning of its plans to responsibly
address this issue.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Pollard
