We hired Sherisse Allen four months ago. She has prepared a report to show her activities. She’s already helped us receive over $1m in grants and awards, with another $1.5m pending. She’s also working on other large grants, including the $61m multifamily housing program grant, and is actively searching in a number of areas, outlined in the report. We pay 50% in years two and three, which is coming to the Board April 13 to request PG&E funds to cover our share. The NVCF funded this grant writer position with the Town of Paradise and the City of Chico at the same time. Butte County Resilience & Recovery Program & Resource Development Spring 2021 Update In Feburary and March 2021, six grant applications were submitted to support the resilience and recovery of Butte County residents. Community Development Block Grant – 2017 Disaster Recovery Mitigation Resilient Planning and Public Services Program CDBG funding associated with disaster recovery of the 2017 Wind Complex Fire created a pathway for applying for mitigation funding that would serve the larger county, including the burn scar area, over three years. Evacuation Planning Project Evacuation routes in 11 communities would be reviewed to determine the capacity, safety and vaiability of routes under a range of emergency scenarios, and updated, when appropriate, for improved efficiency. Fund Request: $455,000; Announcement: TBD Communitities: Berry Creek, Biggs, Butte Creek/Butte Valley, Cohasset/Richardson Springs, East Oroville/Cherokee, Forbestown/Robinson Mill/Clipper Mills, Forest Ranch/Butte Meadows, Palermo/Bangor, Upper Ridge, Yankee Hill Fire Prevention and Protection: Community Education Project A county-wide, innovative, multi-media campaign would educate residents, particularly in 20 remote areas, how to properly abate and protect their property to reduce fire risk to themselves and their communitites. Fund Request: $500,000; Announcement: TBD Communitities: Bangor, Berry Creek, Butte Meadows, Cherokee, Clipper Mills, Cohasset, Concow, Forbestown, Forest Ranch, Feather Falls, Honcut, Hurleton, Kelly Ridge, Magalia, Palermo, Rackeryby, Robinson Mill, Stirling City, Thermalito, Yankee Hill Fire Prevention and Protection: Code Enforcement Project Code Enforcement would enlist the expertise of contractors to abate private property in high fire risk areas and secure the safety of the community when property owners are unwilling or unable to do so. Fund Request: $337,297; Announcement: March 2021 Communitities: South County Unincorporated Communities Older Adult Home Delivery Nutrition Relief Passage would provide weekly home delivery of frozen meals to seniors who are typically lower income and are at high health risk if contracting COVID-19. Fund Request: $230,001; Announcement: March 2021 Communitities: Concow, Gridley,Oroville, Palermo, Thermalito Butte County Public Health COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Response Public Health would provide testing primarily in congregate living sites and target vaccination outreach for low to moderate income groups: seniors, victims of abuse, those who are homeless or people with disabilitites.
