Subject: Herd Immunity Information
There is a lot of information in the media right now surrounding the term “herd immunity” or now
they are also using the term “normality”. Staff in Public Health put together the attached two slides
to show how far away we are in Butte County to reaching “herd immunity”.
Realistically, herd immunity is most likely not achievable since a pretty large percentage of the
population cannot even get a vaccine (0-12 year olds) and another fairly large percentage has
indicated they are not interested in getting the vaccine. However, it is good to know where we
currently are which is actually quite good at 33%.
