Good Afternoon, I am writing you to request to look into Non- Emergency Medical Transport for individuals in the Paradise/ Magalia area. I am currently on the SSTAC with the B-line unaddressed needs assessment. As of 9/29/2020 my voice is not being heard. You see I brought up in the meeting that our elderly population in the Paradise / Magalia area had little or no transportation options. The ONLY option available to them is the Paratransit through the B-line. From the experience of my office, they will leave patients at our office without notification. We also have an issue with the Paratransit not being available in all areas for pick up/drop off. This was addressed in the SSTAC meeting. I also addressed the fact that UBER/LYFT and other forms of transport are not available in Paradise/ Magalia and the only other form of transport through DIAMOND will charge $240. There is another matter of many patients needing transport from Paradise to Oroville ( as most providers are taking months to get to referrals in chico). This service through the B- line was discontinued after the fire. According to their FINDINGs : During the SSTAC meeting on September 28, the issue of lack of transport options for Medical Services was brought up and discussed. Since Merit Medi-Trans ceased operating in Butte County a couple of years ago, the only medical transport options are very expensive and out of reach of most people. Although this issue does not meet the definition an unmet public transit need, it is a very important topic and is being recorded in this assessment to make sure it’s a matter of public record. Options will be explored outside the UTN process. I have reached out to Jim Peplow since with no update on what options are being explored. I offered an alternative program like the METS program through Tehama County that is run through the transportation department. I just spoke with Jessica L. Riske-Gomez the Transportation Manager at Tehama County Transportation Commission at (530) 385-1462 ext. 3028 and she has yet to hear from Jim. So , I ask you to kindly look into this matter and see why we can’t provide Non- Emergency Transport like the volunteer METS program to the Paradise/ Magalia area? This is also something that is covered under the Transportation Development Act. IF you have any questions or need my data please reach me at the information below. Thank you for your time!
