Butte County Public Health (BCPH) is working to get more clarity about how the new CDC guidance will impact the current CDPH (State) guidance. At this time, the State Mask Mandate and CDPH Face Covering guidance is still in place. Butte County continues to follow all state mandates and guidance. The CDC’s new guidance states, “fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.” th On May 12, CDPH issued Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People. Fully vaccinated people should continue to wear a face covering when indoors outside of one’s home, when attending indoor or outdoor crowded events and where required to do so based on CDPH and CalOSHA guidelines for healthcare settings and otherbusinesses and workplaces, including schools. Guidance for unvaccinated people remains in place. Unvaccinated people must continue to wear a mask indoors and outdoors where physical distancing is not possible and as directed by state guidelines. Butte County continues to have significant transmission of COVID-19. With a steady increase of more transmissible COVID variants in Butte County, such as the B117 variant, all people eligible to get vaccinated, ages 12 and older, are strongly encouraged to do so.
