HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-036WHEREAS, Newton Thomas Enloe, M.D., founded Enloe Hospital in 1913 on Flume Street in Chico, to care for
families and workers in the nearby towns and communities; and
WHEREAS, a new, modern Enloe Hospital opened on the Esplanade in 1937, at the same address where Enloe
Medical Center remains today as, an independent, non-profit health care organization; and
WHEREAS, Enloe Medical Center continues its century -plus legacy, steadfastly focused on the health care needs
of the North Valley region; and
WHEREAS, Enloe Medical Center began implementing hospital -wide quality initiatives in 2009, launching a culture
of service that prioritizes quality and patient safety at all levels of care; and
WHEREAS, Enloe Medical Center continues to strive for quality improvement with quality initiatives designed,
tested and implemented by frontline caregivers in every department and service line; and
WHEREAS, Enloe Medical Center is a significant contributor to our regional economy by employing more than
3,600 professionals, and affiliating with approximately 400 local physicians; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte recognizes and values Enloe Medical Center and its caregivers for their ongoing
commitment to improving health care for Chico and surrounding communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte does hereby recognize
Enloe Medical Center for being named one of America's 250 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, ranking quality and safety at
Enloe Medical Center among the top 5% of hospitals in the nation.
