WHEREAS, locally, public employees make great contributions totheir communities bvserving lnareas such as
law enforcement, health care, fine protection, health and human sen/ices, resource conservation, land use and road
maintenance; and
WHEREAS, public servants working for Butte County include those in public safety, social services, land use &
development and other general government departments. Day imand day out they provide diverse services needed bv
the residents ofButte County with efficiency and integrity; and
WHEREAS, public employees don'tjust take mnjobs, butalsntakeoathstmsenueandprotect Public employees
of the County are committed to exhibiting the h' hest standards of excellence, dedication, and cneativity, and are an
integral part of improving the quality of life in our County by being responsive to the needs of residents. The effectiveness
and efficiency ofgovernment depend omdedicated public employees; and
WHEREAS, Butte County public employees have been tasked with going above the call of duty in emergency
response and recovery over the past few years -fn)m the 2017 5pH|vvay Incident to the 2017, 2018, and 2019 flood
events - to the Wall, Ponderosa, Cherokee, LaPorte, and Hon,ey Fires in 2017 - to the Camp Fire in 2018, the North Complex
Fire im2Q2Oand C[)NB-19;and
WHEREAS, Butte County recognizes the dedication and talent ofour public employees and the importance ofthe
services they provide to our residents; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognize the week of
May 2 — May 7, 2021 as Public Service Recognition Week; and residents are encouraged to recognize and express their
appreciation for the, vital contributions made daily by our public employees.
