Dear Applicant,
The plans you recently submitted have been reviewed by the Fire Department referencing
the 2019 edition of the California Fire Code (CFC). The numbered comments listed below in the
body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department Approval of your project. Please
respond in writing to each comment. Complete and clear responses will expedite the re-check
and approval of this project.
1. Provide protection against chemical, mechanical, thermal or environmental damage
for aboveground non metallic piping. Alternately you may transition to an approved
metallic pipe prior to entering the building. (NFPA 13 21.1.6.1.2)
2. Provide freeze protection for areas where pipe is located aboveground. (NFPA
10.4.2.1.4)
3. Install a hydrant not less than 40' from the building (Recommend adjacent to point of
connection to existing water supply). See attached Butte County Improvement
Standard S-27. (CFC 507.5.1)
4. Install a listed and approved indicating control valve with back flow preventer not
less than 40' away from the building. (NFPA 6.2.9)
5. Valves controlling water supply for sprinkler systems must be supervised and
monitored. Submit plans for a Fire Alarm on a separate permit.
6. Verify that current pump and controller are hydraulically compatible with sprinkler
system requirements. Provide submittal information for pump, controller and well
data.
