BUTTE COUNTY LIBRARY ANNOUNCES SUMMER READING PROGRAM: READING
COLORS YOUR WORLD
Oroville, CA—Butte County Library proudly announces the theme of the Summer Reading Program for
2021:Reading Colors Your World. This dynamic and creative theme utilizes the artistic inspiration of
Oliver Jeffers, author and illustrator of the beloved children’s picture book, The Day the Crayons Quit.
The library urges children and families to sign up for this great summer program today by visiting a local
branch.
All Butte County library branches will conduct summer programs for children and teens in June and July,
2021. Activities will be held online and in-person as we move forward with a hybrid approach to
promote reading this summer. Adults are also welcome to participate. Paper reading logs will be
available in each branch library, and Beanstack, an online tracking platform, will be implemented again
this year for those who wish to track their reading and summer activities electronically in order to earn
prizes. Patrons may visit any branch as well as our website
www.buttecounty.net/bclibrary/summerreading throughout the summer for more information about
signing up. The summer schedule of programs for all ages can be accessed at our website.
Some of the community events to look forward to include Rock Painting, Creative Journaling, Children’s
Art Exhibit and Grab-and-Go craft activities with an astronomy and NASA-inspired theme. Families will
also engage with the library staff virtually to produce Theater Art, and learn new STEM principles from
the comfort of home.
Thanks to California State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services for generous grant funds to support our programs.
