The good news is that the abatement proceedings have moved through the process and we did receive a hearing judgement to abate the property. We are currently scheduling the contractor for this work and anticipate that it will be sometime next week. I also want to share some statistics of the program with you because Code Enforcement has been very active in the area. We currently have 133 camping cases. The cases are in various stages of the process and we have had 15 that ceased the camping activity. Our officers will continue to work diligently on these cases to bring properties into compliance. Please exercise judgment before opening attachments, clicking on links, or replying.. this is what three years of not enforcing codes has resulted in out my back door. Paula may be gone so I am sending this to the board. I have not heard back..concerned they will abate the property and leave these illegal RVs!! it will be a matter of days and they will have crap up there again they are currently moving a lot of stuff to neighboring properties trying to hide it so they can bring it back. thank you Susan Copeland concerned citizen Sent from my iPhone Begin forwarded message: From: Susan <copelasi53@gmail.com> Date: June 7, 2021 at 2:49:01 PM PDT To: Paula Daneluk <pdaneluk@buttecounty.net> Subject: Old Magalia code issues Hi Paula, This is Susan Copeland, you may remember talking to me about the issues that we have in our neighborhood (Old Skyway & Sugar Pine)with campers and trash and drugs and crime and various other things. Well the reason I’m writing to you is because when we talked a few months ago you explain to me what the abatement process was for a property that gets to that point. I asked you specifically about the residents on the hill behind us the Bunces, if you were going to be removing their dumpy broke down illegal RVs and you said yes! I am told that property is going to abated on June 18. I just spoke to Officer Williams and he tells me that the cleanup Does not include removing their illegal campers or the piles of wood. The druggies and squatters and relatives that are living on that property are still going to be there in their illegal RVs. I guess I don’t quite understand how these people can still be living up there when they are not the original property owners they have illegal RVs and no obvious way to get freshwater or dispose of their sewage. These are just the non-criminal things that are going on up there. My senior neighbor across the road stopped by to speak to me today because she is terrified and upset about what she has seen going on over there. She recently had her trees removed and she has a clear view of that property and the activity that is going on over there. I keep wondering if anybody has contacted the property owner to find out if she wants these people living there.??? We have been told that she wanted to sell the property after it was cleaned up and that included having her son and the rest of that group gone. I have been patiently waiting for a resolution that would include relocating these folks that are not the property owners ,and have no desire or resources to rebuild! they are not qualified under the chapter 53 ordinance for temporary camping qualifications. And their RVs are not qualified under that ordinance. I feel like now the County will just clean up their property for them and move on, and they’re still there with their trashy, illegal RVs! How can those RVs not be part of the nuisance that has been reported in the neighborhood.? They should be Red Tagged!! They have not cleaned up the RVs they have stove pipes coming out of them - a fire hazard! And on top of all that, they now moving their crap on to neighboring properties until after the cleanup then they’re going to bring it back!!! Paula, I’m just super disappointed and I don’t know where to turn now. Everybody’s pointing fingers at each other and nothing is changing. This is emotionally exhausting to deal with and not see resolution Sincerely Susan Copeland Magalia Sent from my iPhone
