Yesterday I met with Mark where he reiterated the City’s need for confidentiality on the details of the plans, due to litigation, but we did discuss in a more broad picture what the plans entail. There are some key developments on the plan next week, so I’ll report to the Board on June 22 during CAO comments what we know to date. You’re correct that not much information has been available to share as the City is currently involved in litigation related to addressing some of these concerns. Thus, although much discussion has been occurring on this front, it’s been in concert with the confidentiality that is needed to remedy such legal matters. Although the City is desirous of sharing details, and the City is in need of continued collaboration and partnership with the County, we must complete the necessary legal steps before open information sharing can continue in full. Realizing we had a productive meeting this afternoon to discuss the City’s current RFQ related to the prospects of a homeless resting environment, a discussion on the requests for American Rescue Plan dollars, and finally, a discussion of the status of the Shelter Crisis Declaration, I am grateful for your continuing willingness to work on some comprehensive efforts to help our region succeed. I too am hopeful that the County remains supportive of dedicating funding to the City in order to create an environment to help give respite to and provide services for those in need. As soon as I’m able to more fully share the intricacies of the work being done through the legal process I will be pressing ahead to continue our prior discussions in full. This partnership – between the City and County – is pivotal for our region! I truly appreciate yours, your staff’s, and the Board of Supervisor’s patience and recognition of the need for the City to keep the level of confidentiality in place that we’ve th witnessed over the past number of weeks, while the 9 Circuit case is worked through. Mark, Since our City/County homelessness partnership meetings have ended, we have not received much information on the specifics on where the plans are regarding our partnership. On Tuesday, the Board directed me to bring an update on the June 22 meeting. Would you be kind enough to send me a status update? Thanks in advance for your response. I also look forward to meeting with you in person to discuss these issues. Andy Máximo A.
