FEMA continues to operate temporary housing for Camp Fire survivors. The period of assistance for the groups sites in Gridley and Chico expires September 12 of this year and all households will have to find another housing solution. There are currently 26 households still living in FEMA housing with 15 families at the Gridley site and 11 at the site in Chico. The Board directed staff to request the Sales and Donations program for the FEMA housing units to help provide options to these fire survivors. FEMA approved the program and reached out to the remaining households to see which of them may be interested. There are six households of the 26 remaining that are currently interested in the sales program. They are working with FEMA on a reduced price for the units. If those six households do not ultimately end up buying their unit they become eligible to have a nonprofit receive the unit as a donation and continue receiving housing from the nonprofit once to unit is moved to a new location. We have one nonprofit currently interested in assisting, and they are working on identifying locations for the units. The remaining 20 households are not eligible for the donations program since they did not express an interest. CalOES has scheduled a meeting with the County in early August to discuss resources for the families that remain in the FEMA housing sites at that time. We will work with our State and federal partners to identify resources. These families have been working with FEMA case managers and many have been working with DCMs as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
