Thank you for sharing this data. I wanted to provide some additional information for the Board.
Even if all of these youth identified below were eligible for counseling the two health plans (Anthem
and CHW) are still responsible to provide mental health services to those youth with mild and
moderate mental health issues while the County is responsible for the severe. In Butte County, there
currently are no school based mental health services provided through either health plan however
there is legislation being debated at the State to require health plans who are not able to see youth
on a school site to reimburse the Counties for their costs if they provide counseling service if needed
or requested. This is potentially good news.

Good Afternoon,
Today during the Board meeting a question was asked as to how many MediCal eligible children we
have in Butte County of school age. These children could potentially benefit from the school based
counseling services that Behavioral Health contracts out for. Below please find that requested data:
Children ages 5-18=16,158
Children of all ages currently on MediCal=22,923
MediCal recipients in Butte County= 65,431
