To the Butte county Board of Supervisors,
The Glenn County Board of Supervisors recently put a moratorium on any new drilling of agricultural
wells. I would like you to place a similar moratorium on drilling in Butte County. We cannot know the
extent of groundwater depletion due to this drought, perhaps megadrought, and we have a hot and dry
summer ahead of us. To keep pumping water from the ground when we have none in the reservoirs
and no sign of rain for months seems foolish. I have a well along Bidwell Ave. and I worry everyday that it
will dry up.Many households in Butte County have the same concerns. Implementing a drilling
moratorium would be a wise decision to protect Butte County citizens, our environment, and our wildlife.
