Dear Supervisors,
I'd like to call your attention to the Minor Use Permit MUP20-002 currently
in progress for the property located at 400 Marmore Road, Chico, CA.. As
much as I understand the property meets the criteria on paper along with
mitigating factors, I think all of you need to come out and see the situation
and the area. If you all are going to vote on something, you need to have
all the information and be aware.
This permit allows for a special event venue with up to 18 corporate
events a year with an 80 guest maximum as well as 12 wedding events a
year with a maximum of 200 guests per event. The property is located in a
very small and secluded area 2 miles from downtown Chico. It is known by
the realtors and Chico's best kept secret. The neighbors have identified a
number of serious issues including: the roads alone won't be able to
handle the traffic and aren't wide enough to accomodate two cars passing,
there are two children group homes, homes with small children, no street
lighting, and the well that services 50 acres of walnuts for 5 homes
(including the property in question) is in direct danger of collision, just to
name a few. You have to see it to understand it.
Tod Kimmelshue's assistant came out yesterday, Mr. Kimmelshue is
coming out July 1, 2021 at 2pm. If that date works for any of you, please
join him. Otherwise, please look at your schedule. Please let me know if
and when you can take a look and I'll walk with you and point out the
problems.
