NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION
Conditional Use PermitUP20-0001
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Butte County has prepared an Initial Study, in accordance with
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and is considering the adoption of a Mitigated
Negative Declaration for the project described below. TheMitigated Negative Declarationestablishes
that although the proposed project could have a significant effect on the environment, there will not
be a significant effect because required mitigation measures will address potential project effects. The
County has prepared this Notice of Intent to Adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration to provide an
opportunity for input from public agencies, organizations, and interested parties on the environmental
analysis addressing the potential effects of the proposed project. The IS/MND is also available for
review on the County website at http://www.buttecounty.net/dds/Planning/CEQA.aspx.
Project Information
Project:Peter Ferreri, on behalf of Verizon Wireless with SAC WirelessConditional Use Permit
(UP20-0001)
Location:The project site is located on the north side of Shorthorn Drive, approximately 650 feet
east of Hereford Drive, at 4338 Shorthorn Drive, north and west of Chico. APN: 047-600-007.
Project Description:The applicant is requesting a conditional use permit to install a
telecommunication facility,consisting of 90-foot-tall faux pinetelecommunicationstower, with 9
panel antennas, associated ground equipment and a 30kw backup diesel generator (with 210 gallon
capacity tank) within a 625 square foot (25ft.x 25ft.) lease area. An easement for access and
underground utilities will run between the lease area andShorthorn Drive. The lease area will be
enclosed with a 6-foot chain link fence. The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires
this notice to disclose whether any listed toxic sites are present on the project site. The project site does
not contain a listed toxic site.
The IS/MND for this project are on file for public review at
https://www.buttecounty.net/dds/Planning/CEQA. Public review and comment period is from April
7, 2021 through May 6, 2021. All comments on the IS/MND must be submitted in writing to the
address or email provided below and received no later than 5:00 p.m.,Thursday,May 6, 2021.
