SentfrommyiPad Beginforwardedmessage: From:ChicoRepublicanWomen<e-pjones@sbcglobal.net> Date:July17,2021at12:46:06PMPDT To:e-pjones@sbcglobal.net Subject:Chico Republican Take Action Before July 20th! 3 of 4 Reply-To:ChicoRepublicanWomen<e-pjones@sbcglobal.net> BeforetheBoardofSupervisorsCountyofButte, StateofCalifornia Inthematterof: AResolutionProclaimingReturnofGoverningPowerforSchoolCovid SafetyProtocolstotheSchoolDistrictsandParentsofStudents ResolutionNo: WHEREAS,theWorldHealthOrganization(“WHO”)andUNICEFboth statethatchildren5yearsandundershouldnotberequiredtowearmasks, andadvisethatdecisionswhethertoimposeamaskrequirementupon children6-11shouldbemadebasedonseveralfactors,includingtheimpact ofwearingamaskonachild’spsychosocialdevelopment;and WHEREAS,theWHOalsorecommendsagainstchildrenwearingmasks duringexerciseorplay,asitaccuratelyrecognizesthatmaskscanbeharmful becausetheycompromiseachild’sabilitytobreathe,and WHEREAS,recentstudieshaveshownthatrepeatedexposuretomask wearingoverlongerperiodscanbemeasurablyharmful;and WHEREAS,numerousstudieshaveshownthatchildrenarelesslikelyto transmitandlesslikelytogetsymptomaticCOVID-19thanadults;and WHEREAS,childrendonottypicallyspreadCOVID-19,evenwithout masksandteachersarenomorelikelytobehospitalizedduetoCOVID-19 thaninotheroccupations;and WHEREAS,theabilitytosee,appreciate,andcommunicatethroughfacial expressionsiscrucialtoachild’ssocialdevelopment,mentalhealth,physical well-being;and WHEREAS,comparedwith2019,theproportionofmentalhealthreported bytheUnitedStatesCentersforDiseaseControlbeginninginApril2020- relatedvisitsforchildrenaged5-11and12-17yearsincreased approximately24%and31%,respectively;and WHEREAS,themajorityofadultsandchildrenover12yearsold-including thoseathighriskofadverseoutcomesfromCOVID-19havehadample opportunitytogetvaccinated;and WHEREAS,manyhighlycredentialed,well-respectedmedicalprofessionals haverecentlyandpubliclyadvocatedfortheuniversaleliminationofmask mandatesforchildren, NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBUTTECOUNTY BOARDOFSUPERVISORSthattheButteCountyBoardofSupervisors establishesthefollowinggoals: -Assistinthereturnofgoverningpowerforschoolsafetyprotocolstothe SchoolDistrictsthemselvesand -ParentalChoiceformaskingandvaccinatingtheirchildren BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthattheButteCountyBoardofSupervisors continuetheircommitmenttoassistingthelocalschooldistrictsingiving studentsanopportunitytoreturntonormalcyintheclassroom,including optionalfacecoveringsandremovalofdiscriminatoryvaccinationstatus practices. BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthattheButteCountyBoardofSupervisors willseekouttheassistanceofanyandallgovernmentagenciesinvolvedin thedecisionsregardingsafetyprotocolsintheschool,specificallyrequesting assistancetomakemasksoptionalandrelinquishingsafetyprotocoldecision makingpowertotheschooldistrictsandparentsofstudents.
