It should be noted that this resolution does not mandate to the Placer
County Board of Education to take certain actions, but it affirms the
Placer County goal of assisting the return of governing power for
school safety protocols to the school districts themselves and
advocates for parental choice for masking and vaccinating their
children. I (Karen Schwartz, County Counsel) request that the board
consider whether they wish to put this on the agenda to take action. It
will require a vote.

chronology around the issue...

...So we have a copy of this resolution. Uh, that Karen (Schwartz,
County Counsel) addressed in front of us. And with that I’ll open it
up to the board for any comments or questions at this time...
This has to do with it (resolution) being placed on the agenda after
the agenda was posted. Feel free to view the Placer County Board of
Supervisors meeting for further information.
Supervisor Bonne Gore:
...my hope is that we encourage for local control. And that’s been our
board’s position for the past year and a half. Of allowing local
jurisdictions whether it’s school districts, or counties to have some
local control because what happens here in Placer County is certainly
different than in Los Angelos County. The focus of this resolution is
to encourage that we return that governing power to the school
district’s themselves. Um, and that we support how we can with our
Health Officer, providing the information needed to the school board.
So, I am certainly supportive of this resolution, and that it would
certainly assist a number of school board members who have
contacted me about their concern about allowing for decisions at the
school level at the school district level about what works best for
their families and their students. So, I’m supportive of the resolution.
Supervisor Suzanne Jones:
I’ve been contacted by many, many, many constituents about this
issue. I served on the Placer County Board of Education for 10 years,
and it’s dear to my heart. In addition I was contacted. I’m sure all of
us were contacted by Congressman McClintock’s office because he
also sent a letter of support to the El Dorado County Board of
Supervisors and wanted to include a letter of support to our county is
just that we did ours a little bit too fast. As well as Assemblyman
Kevin Kiley supported the same motion for El Dorado county. And
so there, sheriff and I’m sure we would have had all of that support as
well. So, I’m in full support of this and had. Hopeful that this would
pass. Thank you
