Butte County COVID-19 Dashboard to Receive Major Updates
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – As a result of large scale data cleaning and reconciliation project, Butte
County Public Health (BCPH) announces that two major updates will be made to the Butte County
COVID-19 Dashboard today.
The first update will impact the total number of COVID-19 cases reported to date in Butte County.
The public will notice a large increase in the total number of cases - these added cases are not new
cases. Instead, these cases represent those that were reported late, misclassified, transferred from
other jurisdictions, or otherwise missed. A total of 457 previous cases will be added to the
dashboard today.
The second update will change how cases are displayed on the dashboard to more accurately reflect
transmission patterns in the county and to better align with reporting methods used by the
California Department of Public Health. All new cases will now be displayed on the dashboard using
the episode date instead of the date reported to BCPH. Episode date is the date of illness onset or, if
illness onset date is unknown, the date the person had a positive lab specimen collected.
