Blindlyfollowingthestandardsputforthbythosebodies,inabeyanceofallreason,isagrossderelictionofyourdutytoyourconstituents.Coronavirusishere tostay.Wemustlearntolivewithit.Deltavariantismorecontagiousbutsofar,itissignificantlylesslethalandourkidswerealreadyatvanishinglysmall risk.Andeveryadultwhowantsthevaccinehashadtheopportunitytogetit.Thesenewguidelinesare100%guaranteedtobedeclaredunconstitutional. WhynotgetaheadofthisfoolishnessandmakeChicoashiningbeaconofhopeforparentsalloverCaliforniathatkidsandteacherscansafelyreturnto normal?Canyouimaginetheeconomicdriverthatcouldbetoourlittletown??Youguyswouldbeheroes!Therewouldbewhinerswhocryaboutsafety,of course.Andyouranswertothemsimplywouldbethatyourmandateistoprovidequalityeducation,nottocoddleeveryhuman'simmunesystem.Itis unreasonableforanycitizentoholdanentireschooldistricthostageoveraperceiveddangerofanyvirus.Whatanabsurdcontention!Familiescouldalways opttowearamaskortohomeschoolifappropriateforthem.You'vealreadygotthemechanismsinplacetoallowpeoplethatfreedomofchoice! Schooldistrictsalreadyhavenearlyunbreakableliabilityprotectionstoensurethaty'allaren'tgoingtogetsuedifanyonecontractsthevirus.Howwouldthey evenprovetheyhadcontracteditonacampus?Youhaveessentiallyzeroriskinopeningupasopposedtoyearsoflawsuitsandfightsifyoufollowthe suggestionsoftheseauthoritarianandunelectedadvisoryboards.Theseguidelinesareagrosslyauthoritarianoverstepofthepowersinourstateandcounty bureaucracy.Byfollowingthem,youarebeingauthoritarians!Ithoughtwedidn'tlikeauthoritarianism??????????????? PleasejusttakeavoteattheAug4meetingthatyourenforcementplanwillsimplybenottoenforcethemandates.YoucanvoteonitasaBoardanditwill notrequireanyproceduralgymnasticssuchasholdingaspecialmeeting.Youwillsaythatyoutookthemintoconsiderationandweighedthemagainstthe otherconcerns(increasedsuicidalideation,logistics,learningloss,mentalhealthconcerns,communitysupport,impossibilityofenforcement,declining enrollment,etc.)andyoudecidedthebestthingforCUSDwouldbetoreopenfullywithonlyenhancedcleaningoncampus.Nomoresocialdistancing,no moresocialprotocols,nomoremasking,nomoreforcedtestingorquarantines.YOUHAVETHEPOWERTODOTHISANDYOUWOULDBECOME FAMOUSANDADOREDOVERNIGHT.Enrollmentwouldsurgeandperhapsmostimportantly,ourchildren(exceptforGraceandKeaton,Godresttheir souls)wouldfinallybegintorecoverfromthedevastationofthelast18months. Iamdisappointedtofindthatsomanypeoplearestilldebatingthevirusandmasks.Historywilllookbackanddecidethatmasstestingwasthemost foolhardythingthatweeverdidasacountrybecauseitgaveammunitiontoeveryhand-wringing,pearl-clutching,anxiety-riddenhumantosimplyindulge theirfearswithsomestatisticalbackup,andourpoliticiansthepowertooppress.AsIsaidmanymanymonthsago...virusesareubiquitous,abundant,and evolving.Itisfoolhardytobelievewecan"crush"anyvirusorthatwecansomehowstaysafefromthemindefinitely.Ridiculous!Asinine!Ludicrous!For theloveofpeanutbutter,thereisnosolutionthatwillprovide100%safety,solet'sstopfightingovermasksandlockdowns.Theyareconceptuallyabsurd; theywerebornoutoffearandignorance,twothingswhichshouldnolongerbeprevalentasCOVIDisoneofthemostwell-researchedvirusesknownto humankindtoday.Theonlythingthatallowsustoliveourlivesisamodicumofrationalityandasmidgeofcourage.Thoseinpowerhaverepeatedlyshown theyhavepreciouslittleofthesevirtuesbutyetIpraythatourschoolboardmemberswillshowsomeleadershipthisweek!Pleasetakeadvantageofthe localcontrolthatisbeingofferedandvotetopermanentlydisbandmaskmandatesinschool.Letourcommunityknowthatwewillnolongersacrificeour childrenonthealtarofirrationalanxieties.Ourchildrenarenotatremotelysignificantrisk,evenfromthevariant.Buteveniftheywere,themaskingand pretentioussafetyprotocolshavegottostop.Therewillalwaysbeavariantandwecannotprogramourchildrentoliveinfearforever.Allofthistimeand energyspentonsanitization,masking,socialdistancing,elbowbumpingandalloftheothernewprotocolsoflifeisactuallymakingeverysingleoneofus weakeraswecoddleourimmunesystems!Andforcingourchildrentocomplywiththesemandates,especiallywhenEVERYTHINGELSEISOPENis creatingacognitivedissonancethatonceuponatimeeveryprofessionaleducatorina20mileradiuswouldhaverailedagainst. Sciencehasbeenaboontohumankindbutitisnotdivine,norisitomniscient.Anyonewhocontinuallyquotes"science"asadirectivehasafundamental misunderstandingofthemeaningoftheword.HumanimmunesystemshaveevolvedovertimetofunctionthewaytheydoBECAUSEofhowviruses behave.Notinspiteofhowvirusesbehave.Transmission,variants,activeimmunities,thesethingswillneverstopevolving!Never!Sowemustevolvein ourthinkingabouthowtolivewiththem.Thevaccineisavailabletoanyadultwhowantsit.Anyonewhohadthevirushasanatural(active)immunity. Childrendon'tneedit,theirnaturalimmunesystemsaremoreeffectiveagainstCOVIDvariantsthantheywereagainstannualflustrainsandnooneever proposedneverendingsafetyprotocolsbefore2020.Itisvitalthatweadultsallstartactinglikegrownupsandmakingmaturedecisionsforthefutureofour families,ourcommunity,ourcultureandoursociety.Livinginfearisnotlivinganditischildabusetoforcethisonthekids,especiallysincetheycango nearlyanywhereelsewithoutamask!!!Whileourcommunityleaderscontemplatetheirnavelswithregardtothisissue,othercommunitiesalloverthe countryaretakingoffthemasksandtheirchildrenareflourishing.Andsomedayourkidsmustcompetewiththeirkidsforjobs.Pleasestophandicapping Chico'schildren!
