The numbered comments listed below in the body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department Final Inspection of your project. 1. A thirty(30) foot firebreaks shall be created and maintained around the perimeter of the property to slow or stop the spread of fire under normal summer fire season conditions. All firebreaks required shall be created and maintained by mowing to a maximum height of three (3) inches, discing or removing the annual weeds and grasses and other rank growth which is the primary flammable vegetation, and by removing obstructions. 2. Maintain an all-weather Fire Department access road 20 feet wide, with 15 foot vertical clearance that will allow for ingress and egress and accommodate a 40,000-pound fire apparatus to within 150 feet of all structures. 3. Provide two (2) additional wharf head hydrants, for a total of three (3), connected to the 6"main. Hydrant spacing shall be less than 1000 feet, one in the eastern most portion of the camp, one central, adjacent to the kitchen, and western at the booster tank location. Hydrants must have a 2 1/2 inch NH/NST outlet. Minimum flow of 500 GPM. 4. Ensure building and suites have appropriate building identification. Identification shall be placed in a position that is plainly visible from the street or road fronting property. Minimum 4" high and 0.5" stroke. Post address at the street main entrance and on the main or first building encountered. Ensure that other buildings on site are identified with same standard as address. Buildings can be numbered, lettered or named, but must be same label as staff on site uses. 5. Provide a detailed map, including access roads,building locations and building identification, wharf head hydrants, utility disconnects,parking areas, and assembly points. 6. Provide an emergency preparedness plan. 7. No smoking within buildings. Provide a designated outdoor smoking area with appropriate cigarette receptacles. No BBQ's or cooking adjacent to the dormitories. No candles or open flame within the dormitories. 8. Camp will be subject to periodic inspection by Fire Department personnel. 9. Connect sprinkler systems in adjacent modular(kitchen and dining)together and plumb to water system. 10. Provide "K" Class Fire Extinguisher within thirty feet of kitchen hood system. 11. Extinguishers shall be 2A10BC. One extinguisher is required for every 3000 square feet and must be within 75 feet from any point. Extinguishers shall be mounted in a conspicuous place, easily accessible and readily available, and shall be along normal paths of travel. Extinguishers shall be mounted so that the top of the extinguisher is no higher than 5' above finished floor. Where extinguishers may be subject to physical damage they shall be adequately protected. 12. Provide a wharf head hydrant within 100 feet of kitchen/dining hall, connected to 6"main. Hydrant must have a 2 1/2 inch NH/NST outlet. Minimum flow of 500 GPM. 13. Kitchen Hood must be inspected by a qualified individual in accordance with CFC 609.3.3.1, typically every 6 months, cleaning may be necessary. Hood Extinguishing system must serviced by a qualified individual in accordance with CFC 904.12.6, typically every six months. The Fire Prevention Bureau is currently open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
