S-1 (17,640) B-OFFICE (1,560) (BLDG 6) Occupancy Classification: S-1 / B Fire Sprinklers: No Building Total Area: S-1 @ 17640 sf / B @ 1560 sf Dear Applicant, The plans you recently submitted have been reviewed by the Fire Department referencing the 2016 edition of the California Fire Code (CFC). The numbered comments listed below in the body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department Approval of your project. Sheet A0.6, Under Code Analysis, Project, states “Gudgel Building 5”. This submittal is for Building 6. Provide correct sheet. Sheet A0.6, Room Occupant Load Schedule, shows occupancy as F-1. Elsewhere on the plans it is indicated as S-1 and B. Confirm occupancy type. Wall between at midpoint of building must be a 3-hour fire rated barrier as shown on shell building plans B16-2891. Update plans to show the fire barrier. (Or provide an automatic sprinkler system in accordance with CFC Section 903.2.9.) Ensure building and suites have appropriate building identification. Identification shall be placed in a position that is plainly visible from the street or road fronting property. Minimum 4" high and 0.5" stroke, larger structures may require larger signage to be visible. Post address at the street main entrance and on the main or first building encountered. Ensure that other buildings on site are identified with same standard as address. Buildings can be numbered, lettered or named, but must be same label as staff on site uses. Extinguishers in suites shall be 2A10BC. One extinguisher is required for every 3000 square feet and travel distance cannot exceed 75’ from any point in the building. Extinguishers shall be mounted in a conspicuous place, easily accessible and readily available, and shall be along normal paths of travel. Extinguishers shall be mounted so that the top of the extinguisher is no higher than 5' above finished floor. Notify Butte County Fire Department (530) 538-6320 if any hazardous operations, processes or storage will be conducted in any unit. A special permit from the Fire Department may be required. The Fire Prevention Bureau is currently open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
