Second Submittal
Dear Applicant:
The Second Submittal of Plans that we have received have been reviewed by the Fire
Department referencing the 2013 edition of the California Fire Code (CFC). The numbered
comments listed below in the body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department
Approval of your project. The comments listed from the previous submittal have been included
in this letter.
1. 5 year sprinkler inspection is due on the buildings fire sprinkler system. An obstruction
investigation is also due. Both are to be done by someone who is licensed as a C-16 or
equivalent.
a. Show photo proof of obstruction investigation and the back-flush through FDC.
2. Sprinkler spacing from Ceiling obstructions ie; lighting, HVAC, interior walls, etc. shall
conform to NFPA 13.
3. Any modification to the installed Automatic Fire Sprinkler System shall be done by a C-
16 licensed contractor. If modifications are done, proof from the C-16 contractor will be
required before final approval of the fire department.
4. Two (2) 2-A:10B:C Fire Extinguishers will be required to be on site during renovation
and occupancy clearance. Mounting, spacing, and signage shall comply with Chapter 9 of
the fire code.
5. Maintain clear access to fire sprinkler riser located in the gym area.
6. Fire Department access around building shall not be less than 26'.
7. If parking is allowed near exterior exit doors, Ballard's shall be installed according to
Section 312 of the CFC.
8. This building contains a second floor. Show use for second floor.
9. Distribution of Egress Capacity shall comply with Chapter 1005.5
10. Provide Door and door hardware information for review.
11. Occupant load shall be posted in each room where the occupant load is over 50. Sign
shall be above or adjacent to the main exit of the room. Sign shall be durable, have 1 1/4"
letters/numbers, and be on a contrasting background.
12. Aisles shall be established in gym and spin room, lead to exits, and be wide enough to
accommodate occupant load in each room.
13. Addressing for the building shall be Arabic, a minimum of 5"high numbers on a
contrasting background and affixed to the structure.
