Dear Applicant,
The plans you recently submitted have been reviewed by the Fire Department referencing the 2016 edition of the California Fire Code (CFC). The numbered comments listed below in the body
of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department Approval of your project.
Provide a full floor plan of the entire building. Include exit paths of travel on the floor plan.
Provide occupant load calculation for Conference Room.
Provide the location of all the required exit signs on the floor plan. Signs shall be illuminated at all times and be provided with backup power source that will allow the continuation
of the illumination for 90 minutes in case of power failure. Emergency Illumination for egress pathway may be required.
Clearly label and identify on plans firewalls, fire barriers, or fire partitions, along with their fire resistance ratings.
Provide a minimum of (1) 2A20BC rated fire extinguisher mounted in an accessible conspicuous area for every 3000 square feet and the travel distance to a fire extinguisher shall not
exceed 75 feet. Extinguishers must be mounted on a bracket or in a cabinet with the top not more than five feet above the floor. Extinguishers may be required to have a sign mounted
above in order to be visible from a distance.
Please note automatic fire sprinkler head locations on floor plan/reflected ceiling plan. Proposed tenant improvements may require modification or extension of the existing automatic
fire sprinkler system. A C-16 licensed contractor (fire sprinkler contractor) shall be required to evaluate the current system design and installation with the proposed scope of work
to determine if additions, alterations or deletion of fire sprinkler system components are required.
If modifications to the fire sprinkler system shall affect 5 or less sprinkler heads, or if modifications are not required, please provide verification in the form of a scope letter
from a C-16 licensed contractor (fire sprinkler contractor). The letter shall be drafted on company letterhead and include the contractor’s license number and stamp.
