The numbered comments listed below in the body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire Department Approval of your project. 1. Sheet C, Code Analysis, shows occupant load of 66 with one exit required and one exit provided. Please change plans to read two exits required/provided. Section 1006.2.1 CFC. 2. Sheet A3, Exit Signs. In addition to the tactile exit signs, an internally or externally illuminated visual exit sign will be installed at each required exit in accordance with Section 1013 CFC. 3. Sheet A1, Exit Discharge. Exit paths shall be illuminated at all times while the building is occupied. In the event of power failure, an emergency electrical system shall illuminate all egress components in areas that require two or more exits. Provide emergency illumination in accordance with Section 1008 CFC. 4. Sheet A5, Restaurant Appliance Layout. Product information for vent hood system received in submittals. Layout shows hood installation over ovens adjacent to refrigerated storage only, not in main kitchen. Note on submittal sheet shows line item for electrical system “Replacement for line hood”. Does the line vent hood system already exist and just requires new electrical? Please clarify and show line vent hood on plan. Commercial cooking operations that produce grease laden vapors are required to have Type 1 Hood and an automatic fire extinguishing system. CFC 904.12 Consult with a licensed contractor/designer and submit plans for a listed and approved automatic fire extinguishing system. 5. Sheet A5, Fire Extinguishers. Class K Fire Extinguishers shall be a minimum of 1.5 gallons. Class ABC extinguishers shall be a minimum of 2A10BC. Extinguishers must be mounted in an accessible conspicuous area, on a bracket or in a cabinet with the top not more than five feet above the floor. Extinguishers may be required to have a sign mounted above in order to be visible from a distance. The Fire Prevention Bureau is currently open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
