Dear Applicant,
The plans you recently submitted have been reviewed by the Fire Department
referencing the 2016 edition of the California Fire Code (CFC). The numbered
comments listed below in the body of this letter must be addressed prior to Fire
Department Approval of your project.
1. Minimum distance between any two sprinklers should not be less than 8'.
Page 2, First Floor Overhead Piping Plan, kitchen heads are less than the 8' (6'4"
shown) minimum. RESPONCE: Heads in kitchen have been relocated.
2. Page 2, First Floor Overhead Piping Plan shows QR style upright sprinklers
symbol. I believe this should be the change in pipe elevation to the second floor.
Please verify and correct on plans. RESPONCE: First floor shows change in
elevation. Symbol Legend Revised.
3. Figure 24 and 28 Hanger Detail specifies Tolco, but cut sheet is for Afcon.
Which is being used? Provide current cut sheet showing product is listed and
approved. RESPONCE: Hanger details updated.
4. Tyco LF -Il QR HSW and Tyco LF -II QR Recessed SSP shown, but cut sheets
have Victraulic. Which head(s) are being used? Provide current cut sheet
showing product is listed and approved. RESPONCE: Sprinkler heads and data
sheets now called out as Victaulic.
5. Tyco LF -II QR HSW is located on exterior of building but cut sheet online
shows no info regarding exterior use. Verify with manufacturer that head is rated
for exterior use. RESPONCE: Tyco heads now Victaulic. Sprinklers are not listed
as for indoor or outdoor use.
6. Riser Detail shows 1/4" drain pipe. Drain pipe shall be at least 1 in. (25 mm)
nominal diameter. RESPONCE: Drain pipe now called out as 1" Drain.
7. Riser detail; cabinet or FDC need signage. RESPONCE: "Hydraulic Data
Plate" Now on Riser.
8. Cut Sheets for Vitaulic is from 2013, Provide current cut sheet showing
product is listed and approved. RESPONCE: Correct cut sheets now provided.
9. Cut Sheet Potter Residential Riser from 2/2015, Provide current cut sheet
showing product is listed and approved. RESPONCE: Correct cut sheets now
provided.
10. Cut Sheet Potter Bells from 1/2013, Provide current cut sheet showing
product is listed and approved. RESPONCE: Correct cut sheets now provided.
11. No cut sheet on check and control valve assemblies, provide current cut
sheet showing product is listed and approved. RESPONCE: Correct cut sheets
now provided. RESPONCE: Correct cut sheets now provided.
