Good morning Board – a couple quick updates regarding the redistricting process.
Census Data Release
The preliminary census data (data that hasn’t been adjusted for the prisoner population) will be
released tomorrow. We are still anticipating receiving the final updated data from the State in mid-
September. Our consultants will be working on incorporating this preliminary data into the existing
district lines in the next week to 10 days. Once this is done – we’d like to calendar times to meet
with you (up to two of you at a time), to share this information. We anticipate each meeting taking
about 45 minutes. The days we are targeting are:
8/25 – open from 1 - 4
8/26 - open from 1 - 4
8/27 – open from 2 - 5
Can you let me know your time availability during these times – so we can coordinate with our
consultant?
Community Input Tool
In addition – the online tool (Districtr) will be available very soon. This is a tool that community
members may use to submit various communities of interest, draft maps, etc. Once this tool is up
and operational – I’d like to calendar time with each of you to show you how the tool works (again –
I can meet with up to two of you at a time to get this done as well). Ideally I’d like to do this early
next week if that is possible. I can come to your offices – or we can calendar time here – whichever is
easier for you. I’ll do what I can to work around your schedules – however, here are some times that
currently work on my end:
Tuesday morning, 8/17
Wednesday afternoon, 8/18 – between 1 – 3
Thursday morning, 8/18
If you can let me now your availability for this as well - I will get something on calendar ASAP.
We are targeting to push out information to the public later next week on redistricting timing, the
online tool, and upcoming community meetings (where community members can come and submit
ideas or gather additional information).
