Good Morning Butte County,
This Spring, COVID-19 gave us all a little break and allowed us to feel a sense of normalcy for a while;
however, the COVID numbers are increasing again, which is not news any of us want to hear, and I
understand it’s very frustrating.
I want to take a moment to let you know that COVID is hitting close to home - my office has
experienced multiple cases this past week. Now I understand firsthand how challenging this can be.
First, it is difficult to see my coworkers – people I consider friends – to suffer the effects of the
illness. COVID can be very rough. Second, responding to COVID in a work setting is quite disruptive.
We have to change processes, add mitigations, and develop alternate workflows. Everything
becomes more complicated, and the ability to serve our community suffers.
I know there are other departments that are seeing new cases too, over two dozen at the last count,
and it is impacting them as well. This is why I want to take another opportunity to remind us all to
take COVID seriously.
Vaccines, masks and social distancing have been shown to help bring the numbers down. I want to
encourage you to take proactive measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Let’s all work
together to bring the numbers back down so we can once again feel that sense of normalcy.
If you have any questions about COVID, please call our call center at 530-552-3050.
