DearButteCountyBoardofSupervisors,
I am writing to ask you to PLEASE NOTrescindtheEmergencyProclamationANDtoaskyouto
beefupresourcesforthePublicHealthDepartmentandaskittodomorereportingtothe
publicregardingschools,businessesandoutbreaks.
IhavethreesistersandanephewinButteCounty(Oroville,Durham,andChico);thesisters
areallover70yearsofageandtwoofthefourhaveseverehealthrisks.Thatnotwithstanding,
theyareallvaccinatedandfairlytoveryhealthy-butweareallverycareful.Infact,withthe
newDeltavariantanduptickincases,wehavereturnedtowearingmasks,limitingexposure
toothersandavoidingclosedareas.
ItisnosecretthatButteCountyhasitsshareofresidentswhojustwantthegovernmentto
leavethemalonetolivetheirliveshowtheyseefit.Icanunderstandwheretheyarecoming
from,butinthemidstofapandemic,weneedleaderswhoarestrongandwillingtostandup
fortheweakestintheircommunities-weneedleaderswhoarewillingtorisksomecriticism
byaloudcontingentthatappearstoputtheirowndesiresbeforethehealthoftheir
community.
Weknowfromnumbersreported internationally,nationallyandlocallythatvaccinationsand
masksarethebestprotectionagainstCOVID,andthatonlywithahealthycommunitywillour
economiccommunitysurvive.
PleaseplayyourpartinprotectingtheeconomiclivelihoodofButteCounty.Youhavethe
powertohelpmanywhoareuninformedbecomemoreinformed.Asmuchasmanycounty
residentsmaydistrustthe"government,"ourcountyresidentsknowyou,yourfamily,your
friendsandtheytrustyou.Theyvotedforyoubecausetheytrustyou-orsomeonetheyknow
saidtheycould.ManywhoareuninformedaboutCOVIDWILLbegintoreconsiderhowthey
thinkaboutthepandemicifYOUwilldoyourpartandinformthem.
EnloeHospitaljustpublishedaveryinformativegraphicwhichspeaksdirectlytotheclaims
thatvaccinationsdon'thelp.Thegraphicshowsthat43of49COVIDpatientsinthehospital
werenotvaccinated.Italsoshowsthatofthe9patientsinICU,ALLwereunvaccinated.
IbegyoutostandforyourcommunityandhelpprotectusagainstCOVID.
