Please exercise judgment before opening .. attachments, clicking on links, or replying. Update from Tuesday 24 August: County Public Health just noted this on social media, along with pleas for people to get vaccinated: "The number of COVID-19 patients at Enloe Medical Center that require a ventilator in order to breath has increased by THREE since yesterday." The county COVID19 data reported yesterday was 219 new PCR-tested cases and 27 rapid antigen-tested cases, which is 551 cases in the past 7 days (~78.7/day) and a test positivity level of 10.36%. The numbers are going up. This is a dangerously high positivity rate that implies a much higher level of new cases than those documented by testing. The local situation is growing worse and ending the emergency declaration is the opposite of what is needed. OnMon,Aug23,2021at12:46PMSBianco<lazuleye@gmail.com>wrote: The COVID19 emergency has not ended and we are deep in a new resurgence of cases across the US. As of Friday Aug 20, Butte County had 504 new cases over the previous 5 days, while the previous 7 day period was 484, and this time last month was 120. The county's test positivity rate is 10.3% (among the worst in the state) and only 41% of the county's eligible residents are fully vaccinated. The delta variant is more contagious than the original pathogen and people who were vaccinated over 8 months ago may have waning protection. County hospitals had 4 ICU beds available as of last Friday and as you should know, COVID19 is not the only reason people may need ICU care. As I write, Enloe has released the following statement: Enloe is experiencing a #surgein#COVID-19cases. AsofAug.23,2021,wearecaringfor: •47COVID-19patients •43ofthoseareunvaccinated;4arevaccinated. •6COVID-19patientsareintheICU;1isonaventilator. Nothing in these data indicates that the COVID19 situation has resolved and no longer needs an Emergency Proclamation. With local schools starting again and CSUC students returning, we cannot afford to have these COVID19 data become worse. Please don't make a political decision about an urgent medical situation. Denying reality and ensuring people cannot get appropriate medical help is dangerous to the community. Sally Bianco Chico 95973
