Media Advisory
What:Butte County residents and media representatives are encouraged to participate in the 2021 Supervisorial
Redistricting Process. Two community meetings will be held this week, offering residents an opportunity to
draw maps identifying communities of interest and district boundaries, as well as ask questions about the
redistricting process.
When: Wednesday September 1, 2021, 6-8PM
and
Thursday, September 2, 2021, 6-8PM
Where: September 1, 2021: Manzanita Place

Chico
September 2, 2021: Southside Community Center

Oroville
Why: Redistricting is a process that occurs following the U.S. Census every ten years. In Butte County, Census data
is used to redraw Supervisorial Districts to ensure each district is substantially equal in population. Our
communities have shifted significantly due to the Camp Fire and North Complex Fire, making redistricting
even more important. Residents are encouraged to submit maps identifying communities of interest and where
they feel district boundaries should be located.
