Board Members,
This morning Radley Ott submitted his resignation letter to Josh Pack. Radley has accepted a position
with DWR out of Red Bluff. His last day with us is October 1. The e-mail string is below.
This is a huge hit for us on many levels. Prioritizing tasks at PW will be critical until Josh can find a
new right-hand person, as well as a replacement for his Sr. Civil Engineer that just left.

Good morning, Andy and Sheri –
Earlier this morning, Radley submitted his resignation notice from the County, with his last
st
day at Butte County on October 1. He has accepted an offer with the Department of Water
Resources out of Red Bluff.
While I became initially aware of his interest and intent to leave the County late last week, this
comes as a bit of a shock. With our ongoing issues filling both the Assistant and Deputy
Director positions, Radley has shouldered considerable burdens in recent years. His loss -
combined with the resignation last week of our Senior Civil Engineer responsible for disaster
recovery and special projects – will have a direct impact on the services we provide the public.
Many of the Board’s particular interests were being managed by both of these individuals, and
I don’t know yet how these will be transitioned. Saying I’m concerned is a bit of an
understatement at this point.
I plan to begin working on options moving forward later this week and will keep you in the
loop as things develop.
Josh

Hello Josh,
It comes with very mixed emotions to submit this letter of resignation as the Assistant Director for the
Department. My tenure in the Department has been fulfilling, enriching, and memorable. I submit this
resignation with another fabulous professional opportunity and am leaving with fond and positive sentiment
with the County of Butte.
My last day with the Department will be Friday, October 1, 2021.
I am proud of the accomplishments the Department has made in recent years and I look forward to a
transition that continues this trend.
With sincerity and gratitude,
Radley Ott
