BCPH expresses its sincere condolences to the person’s family and friends. The individual was unvaccinated and did not have any significant underlying health conditions. BCPH urges all eligible residents ages 12 and older to get vaccinated for COVID-19. All the vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization and death. BCPH also urges people infected with COVID-19 who develop severe symptoms to seek care early and talk with their healthcare provider about the possibility of receiving monoclonal antibody treatment (MAB). Please note: at this time, MAB is in limited supply and not everyone will be able to receive it. It’s important for the public to recognize COVID-19 can cause severe illness and death to people at any age, especially with the dominant Delta variant spreading rapidly. It is vital to know the emergency warning signs for COVID-19. *Warning signs of COVID-19 that indicate you should seek medical care immediately include, but are not limited to: Trouble breathing Persistent pain or pressure in the chest Confusion Inability to wake or stay awake Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips or nails beds. *This list is not all possible symptoms. Please call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you. Some people with COVID-19 experience vomiting and/or diarrhea. If you or someone you know has these symptoms, it is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Vaccinations provided by BCPH vaccination clinics are always voluntary. BCPH strongly urges everyone who is eligible to get fully vaccinated, but does not mandate anyone to get vaccinated. ###
