Good morning Board Members
This morning the House Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency
Management held a hearing to examine FEMA’s Assistance Programs’ Ability to Help Before, During
and After Wildfires. Congressman LaMalfa asked if I would be a witness for the hearing and the
Subcommittee extended a formal invitation for me to testify. I appeared at the hearing along with
three other witnesses with wildfire experience.

It is an honor to work on wildfire recovery efforts for Butte County. It is hard, personal work, and I
am happy to share the experiences and challenges we’ve faced to help make the process better for
fire survivors and our communities. Thank you for your ongoing leadership for recovery from our
recent fires.
