Tom, Kathleen, Caitlin and Eileen,
I am writing today to ask you to resolve, like Durham, to protect local Chico families against
the gross overreach of executive authority emanating from Sacramento. Allow Chico families
to make their own medical decisions and acknowledge that we know what is best for ourselves
and for our community. Gavin Newsom is not better at managing our own lives than we are!
Many people will still choose the masks and vaccines as is their right to do. I only ask that you
allow all of us to make that decision for ourselves and for our children. The arm wrestling over
masks and vaccines is so obviously politicized and anti-scientific that only an extreme partisan
who can no longer think critically could ever conclude that these mandates are effective, let
alone moral. The protected DON'T NEED TO BE protected from the unprotected by forcing
the unprotected to use the protection that didn't protect the protected. Please drop the mask
mandates, fight (on our behalf, your constituents) the vaccine mandates, and let's teach our
children what courage and rational thinking look like! Perpetual pearl clutching is exhausting,
embarrassing, and so very tedious. Vote to approve a resolution like the Durham one which
will allow Chico families to know that their local bureaucrats no longer have COVID blinders
on!
Fail to protect the rights of local families and you will go down in history as the School Board
that struck the death blow to CUSD! This top-heavy, corrupt bureaucracy will not stay alive
when large contingent of families pull their children out of the district. CUSD will go into a
death spiral of falling attendance, budget cuts, teacher layoffs, declining quality of education,
more falling attendance, etc. The light at the end of the tunnel is a train! For the love of God,
get off the damned tracks!
