FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dixie Fire Area Debris Removal and Closures
Currently, motorists should plan for closures and delays along State Routes
SR 36, SR 70, & SR 89 in the vicinity of Quincy and Chester during daytime hours,
Monday-Saturday:
SR 36 from the SR 32 junction to the SR 89 junction - 20-minute maximum
delays
SR 70 Greenville Wye to Quincy - 15 minute delays (work expected to be
completed by mid-November)
SR 89 from the Greenville Wye to Canyondam - 60-minute maximum
cumulative delays.
SR 89 from Canyondam to Chester - minimal delays due to shoulder
closures.
These delays will allow the contractor to continue removal of imminent
hazard trees on steep terrain above the roadway, to apply erosion control
measures and to repair drainage features to reduce the chance of
potential landslide and debris flow events to avoid further damage and closures
of the highway. Work and closure schedules are weather dependent. The recovery
work does not have an anticipated completion date at this time.
***SR 70 remains closed to through traffic from the Jarbo Gap to the
Greenville Wye due to a landslide. Please plan your trip accordingly ***
Caltrans District 2 and our contractor partners thank the local communities and
traveling public for their continued patience as vital repairs continue to be made along
multiple routes impacted by the Dixie Fire.
